While visiting our family in Essex last week we had our first time babysitting our niece B. It was defiantly one of our favorite days, whilst we were visiting. We don’t get to spend half as much time with B as we would like so we was so excited to be able to help my sister-in-law out while enjoying some one-on-one time with our niece.

This is the first time we have had her on our own for the day and it was so much fun. Normally, when we see her it is at my mother-in-laws but V was doing the last bits of preparation for B’s 1st birthday party so we offered to have her for the day. It was such a sunny day so we decided to go to Wat Tyler Country Park with my parents, sister, and brother. We took a picnic with us so after letting Baby bear and B play at the park we could have some lunch before going for a walk.

I didn’t get a lot of photos of Baby bear as he was off running around enjoying spending time with his aunt and uncle. And let’s be honest his a toddler that doesn’t like fulfilling my photo needs. Anyway, Baby bear loved playing with B on the swings even though she wasn’t as into it as he was. He was so excited to have her there if we let him he would of taken her on all the climbing frames with him.

Top Tip: If your going somewhere were there is going to be alot of children, dress your child in a bright colour or something distinctive. It makes keeping an eye on them so much easier.

I’m so used to just giving Baby bear lunch and letting him feed himself, it was a slight adjustment to then feed B. She is really good at feeding herself but just needs help with B size bites. Needless to say, I had forgotten what it was like giving lunch to an 11-month-old and gave her a whole mini scotch egg which she then preceded to put in her mouth hole. I nearly had a heart attack which she found really funny.

After our picnic, we headed off for a walk in the sun. We had taken a ball with us so Daddy bear, Aunt K, and Uncle W played with that as we went along. Grandad has this thing of getting a long piece of reed and using them as “tiggle sticks” when we go for walks. So, of course, Baby bear wanted to join in with the fun and enjoyed chasing us all with the reed. He also took his balance motorbike with us to ride which he loved and it kept him from getting tired on the walk.

As you may know, if you have read my previous blogs but we are a family who loves being outside in nature so this was the perfect day. It couldn’t have been better, sun, family, the park, a picnic, and a nice walk… Perfect. Having B for the day just made it so much better and we can’t wait to babysit her again and spend more quality time with her. It has defiantly given us an insight into what life would be life with 2 children and we can’t wait. It had its challenges but nothing we couldn’t handle. We loved our day with B.
