Before I start, I just want to make it very clear I wouldn’t change our decision to move away at all. I also know how lucky we are to have been able to buy our own home and have the life we do. This being said, not having family around the corner can suck. Before we moved I never thought I would miss having our family close to us. I guess you don’t know what you have till its gone sort of thing.

Most days, it doesn’t bother us not having family around the corner, in the sense we Facetime both sides of the family most day. So we get to talk to them and Baby bear gets to see them. However, it starts getting hard on the weekends when we use to spend time with family or when daddy bear and myself want some ‘us’ time, we don’t have the option for dropping him off with them while we go out for a couple of hours. Or inviting them around for a cup of tea or dinner.

Since moving we have also been lucky enough to become an Aunt and Uncle to 2 nieces. We are lucky enough to get updates on them and we get to see B every time we go down (A’s mum works a lot) but it isn’t the same. We go months without actually being able to see or cuddle them. That’s the worst part of living so far I think missing out on seeing them grow up.

We also left some really good friends behind. We are lucky enough to have amazing friends who are always there for us when we need them. They come to see us and we see them when we go down, but it isn’t as good as being able to just pop round.

However, this all being said we love living here and we have made some truly amazing friends that we wouldn’t change. It’s hard living so far from our family and friends. Nearly 2 years on and we still miss having everyone around us.
